Candidate Statement

Bill Lipkin

AFT 2222

Candidate for Vice-President

I have been an advocate and activist for adjunct faculty for over 30 years. During that time I have been instrumental in organizing several locals and working on several adjunct faculty contracts. I served as president of AFTNJ and helped triple the size of the state federation. I am a founding member of United Adjunct Faculty of New Jersey (Local 2222 AFT) and have served as Secretary-Treasurer for over 11 years. I also serve as an executive office in two chapters of the Local. I am the co-founder of this AFT Adjunct/Contingent Faculty Caucus and served as president, and now vice president, of the organization. The major issue I am currently involved in is trying to make Unemployment Insurance available to adjunct faculty during the summer. I have facilitated some workshops in NJ, with the participation of the Director of NJ UI, and have helped dozens of adjunct faculty file and collect this summer.
